Laser Application Engineer (m/f/d)

About us
Micromach GmbH specialises in laser precision machining – systems, processes and automation solutions. To further strengthen our technical customer support and application capabilities in the European market, we are looking for an Application Engineer (m/f/d) to take on customer-facing technical work, process development and project support.
Your responsibilities
- Technical dialogue with customers: understanding their components, materials, machining requirements and technical challenges
- Analysing customer requirements and developing suitable laser machining concepts
- Running sample trials, process validations and parameter optimisation, and evaluating machining results
- Supporting customers with application and process questions during equipment operation and production
- Providing technical support to the sales team in early-stage discussions, concept development and feasibility analyses
- Contributing to machine acceptance tests, customer training, on-site commissioning and technical after-sales support
- Evaluating trial results and preparing test reports, process documentation and technical files
- Feeding customer requirements and field feedback back to R&D and production to drive continuous improvement of our systems and processes
- Providing on-site technical support at customer sites and partner institutes as required
Your profile
- Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automation, mechatronics, materials engineering, optics/photonics, laser technology or a comparable technical qualification
- Strong technical understanding and the ability to analyse and solve practical process problems independently
- Genuine interest in precision machining, laser technology, automation and industrial manufacturing
- Strong communication skills and a service-oriented mindset – you capture customer needs accurately and translate them into technical solutions
- A careful, self-reliant way of working, practical hands-on skills, willingness to learn and a team-oriented attitude
- Good written and spoken German (B2 or above) and very good English
- Willingness to support customers on site and to travel occasionally
Desirable
- Background in optics, laser technology, materials processing or precision manufacturing
- Experience in industrial equipment commissioning, process development, application engineering or technical customer support
- Familiarity with CAD, technical drawings, automation control or measurement and inspection equipment
- Experience working in international, cross-cultural teams
